Jeff’s Comments
2. This isn’t the TOC for the manuscript; it’s for this proposal. I encourage this because it helps organize and orient the editor, who will be reading your proposal along with a hundred others during any given week.
Deb’s Comments
c. This is a good structure for the proposal. I like the idea of naming the first section “Overview and Audience,” as it is easy for people to be confused between market and marketing. One is the potential audience, and the other is how you will reach it. This solves this problem. This proposal table of contents is very simple and clear. This won’t work for all proposals, but it is always better to go for clarity rather than grandiosity. This author gets right to the information needed by agents or editors so they can make their decision.
